In 2024, the Australian Curriculum is the basis for all subjects in our school.  Programs in the school are in line with Education Queensland’s recommendations and unit plans.  Teachers will work from adjusted Education Queensland's C2C (Curriculum into the Classroom) units of work or school-based units of work, ensuring consistency across classes and schools.   We work to adjust units of work so they are engaging and relevant for students.

Subjects studied include: English, Mathematics, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), Physical Education, Technology (Design / Digital), The Arts, Languages (Japanese).

The school's curriculum framework includes:

  • Interventions and support for students with additional needs ( Personalised Learning Plans for students with Disabilities, Closing the Gap programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, support for students with learning difficulties, extension programs for gifted and talented students, genius hour programs to encourage creativity)
  • Assessment - formative and summative assessment practices consistent across the school
  • Reporting - reporting to students and parents about individual progress and reporting to the wider community about school progress.

A copy of our Curriculum Framework Overview (pdf)  can be found in our documents store.  Parents are provided with semester overviews each year.

A copy of our pedagogical approach  can be found in our documents store. MGSS Pedagogical Approach 2023.pdf

Curriculum overviews for classes are available in our documents store.
